Let’s talk about one of my favorite recent senior sessions—this one took place at Newtowne Neck State Park in beautiful Southern Maryland, and it was the dreamiest. If you’re thinking about booking senior portraits in the Leonardtown area, this spot is definitely worth considering. But before we dive into the fun stuff, here are a couple things you should know!

First: bring the bug spray. I’m talking mosquitos and tiny gnats that come out with a vengeance—especially around sunset near the water. Also, heads-up: the park closes about 30–45 minutes before actual sunset, so we plan ahead and shoot a little earlier to still get those golden vibes.

We started this session in the open grassy fields, and everything felt soft and peaceful—perfect for some sweet, relaxed portraits. Then we wrapped things up on the beach with toes in the sand and golden light on the water. It was magical. Newtowne is one of my go-to spots for senior photos because it offers the best of both worlds—pretty fields and beachy backdrops all in one.
