Let’s talk about outfit planning—because I know it can feel like a lot when you’re getting ready for your senior session. One of the biggest questions I get is: “How many outfits should I bring?” And while there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, I love giving my seniors a simple starting point: the 3 outfit rule. (Spoiler: it’s not really a rule, just a super helpful guide.)

Here’s the breakdown:

1. The Classic White Outfit

You can’t go wrong with a white dress. It’s timeless, clean, and just screams “I’m a senior!” Whether it’s a sundress, romper, or something a little more structured, white photographs beautifully in almost every location. Bonus: if you bring your cap and gown, we can throw it over this outfit for a few quick grad-style photos!

2. The Dressy or Statement Look

This is your “main character” moment. It’s the outfit you’ve been dying to wear—maybe a long, flowy dress that moves in the wind, or a bold look like bedazzled cowboy boots with a little black dress. It could be ruffly, bright pink, sequined, or full of color. This is the outfit you want to look really good in, so go all out!

3. The Personality Pick

This one should feel like you. Whether that’s jeans and a cute top, a jersey for your favorite team, or even something related to your future career or senior-year hobbies—this outfit captures your vibe right now. The goal? To remember what this season of life actually looked and felt like.

What if I want to include sports or hobbies?

Great! That falls under your personality outfit—or if you want even more variety, it can be a 4th look. I always suggest planning about 30 minutes per outfit, so if you want to add more looks, be sure your session allows enough time to cover everything!

What about my cap & gown?

If you’ve already got it—bring it! We can toss it over your white outfit and grab a few quick shots. If not, no stress. I offer Grad Mini Sessions later in the year once caps and gowns come in, so you’ll still have a chance to get those classic grad photos.

Remember: your senior session should feel fun, relaxed, and totally you. These outfit ideas are just here to help you start planning. If you have something else in mind or want help building your looks, I’m just an email away. I’m always happy to help my seniors feel confident and camera-ready.
